The MPL-MY/SG qualifiers are over. Over 1000 teams from both Malaysia and Singapore battled for 4 coveted spots in the regular season which will begin on 1 March 2019. As we wait for the season to begin, let’s meet the teams.
Resurgence
Last season team Resurgence was known as Flash Tyrants and they placed 3rd after losing in the lower bracket final to Saiyan Reborn. This season they are back with a brand new name and bigger ambitions to win MPL-MY/SG Season 3.
1) Which Malaysian team is your biggest rival? Why?
Mystic Burden became GeekFam Mystic in season 2, and now they are just GeekFam. They have been around since Season 1, and have always given us a tough fight both during the regular seasons and during playoffs of the past 2 seasons. Recently, they trained very hard and are constantly improving, so I guess they will be the hardest Malaysian opponent to beat.
2) Last season, a Malaysian team (Saiyan Reborn) won MPL. Do you think a Singaporean team will reclaim the title?
I believe that this season we will witness one Singaporean team emerge victorious and reclaim the title. The lions can’t wait to thrash the tigers to pieces.
3) What do you think about the newly qualified Singaporean team – NARA eSports?
We have not heard much about them, but we don’t think they will be as much of a threat as Evos Esports SG and Bigetron SG. However, we can’t underestimate the underdogs because last season in MPL, that’s what we did – we lost to the Malaysian underdogs. But to be fair, Team Reborn played amazingly during the playoffs.
4) Tell us about the change to Resurgence.
Overall, we feel that we have more freedom and better support from the organization. Our vision as players and what we want from the organization and from ourselves are more aligned with Resurgence than with Flash.
5) What heroes do you think will be the most contested during this season?
We’d say Kimmy, Harith, Selena, Lunox, Grock and Kaja because now they have high damage and are great heroes in this patch.
6) What are your thoughts about the Malaysian teams in general?
This season we will prove once again why people accord us the nickname, “the Malaysian slayers”. We’re ready to rumble and live up to our title, so Malaysian teams better watch out!
7) What can we expect from your team this season?
More variation of playstyle! We will definitely create more surprises, especially in our drafting so stay tuned for that when the regular season starts!
