The MPL-MY/SG qualifiers are over. Over 1000 teams from both Malaysia and Singapore battled for 4 coveted spots in the regular season which will begin on 1 March 2019. As we wait for the season to begin, let’s meet the teams.

Team Reborn

The champion of MPL-MY/SG Season 2 surprised everyone with their superior performance after dropping to the lower bracket on the first day. They overcame all odds, outplayed every opponent they faced despite being the underdogs – they barely made it to the playoffs. This season will prove if the surprise winner will establish their legacy as Malaysia’s best, or go down in history as a one-hit wonder.

1) Why did Jinn leave Team Reborn?

Jinn left the team because of his personal reasons and we respect his decision. He did not play for us at all during the playoffs last season because of stage fright, but we managed to win the competition. So we’re fired up to repeat our performance.

2) Which other team do you fear the most?

This season will be more challenging than last season because the new teams that have qualified are not the teams from last season with the exception of ICON MY. We were a qualified team, and we defeated everyone more favoured than us, so we’ll definitely respect underdog teams. When there is less expectation, there is less pressure, and perhaps that allowed us to have fun and play our own game.

3) As a winner last season how can you strategize to defend your title?

Of course, Reborn will make a variety of meta and tactical on each fights so we won’t easily readable by our opponents. So, we won’t give our opponent an easy win.

4) What do you think about your Season 2 Grand Final opponent Evos Esports SG now that Kolia has left the team?

Evos Esports SG is still a strong team even after the departure of Kolia. We will certainly not underestimate them because they will have learned from their mistakes and come back stronger and more mature. And for sure they will have their own tricks to beat us.

5) In your opinion, which country is stronger overall?

In my opinion, Singaporean teams are generally stronger because none of the Singaporean teams were eliminated during the Regular Season. Last season, all three teams were really strong, and this season we have a fourth one. It’s going to be tough for Malaysian teams, because the Singaporeans usually have a stronger mentality compared to our local squads.

6) What are your thoughts about the Singaporean teams in general?

The Tigers will show them that we are the real king of the jungle! Besides, the Singaporean ‘lion’ is only half lion.
